Hulu CEO Shares 2009 Stats

Hulu ended 2009 on a high note, and CEO Jason Kilar took the opportunity to share some remarkable statistics about the company’s performance.

Remarkable User and Stream Growth

According to data from comScore, Hulu’s monthly users experienced a significant rise. The number of users surged to over 43 million, marking a 95 percent growth compared to the previous year. Even more impressive was the growth in monthly streams, which skyrocketed to 924 million, a staggering 307 percent growth from the prior year.

Expansion of Content and Advertiser Relations

Such substantial growth in users and streams can be attributed to various factors. Notably, Hulu expanded its content library, offering a vast selection for its viewers. The content hours soared from 5,600 to 14,000 within a year.

In addition, Hulu’s advertiser network saw a considerable expansion. By the end of 2008, the platform collaborated with 166 advertisers. By the end of 2009, this number had leaped to 408, showcasing its growing appeal in the advertising domain.

Top Videos of 2009

Hulu’s audience had clear favorites when it came to shows and individual clips. Some of the top shows for the year included “SNL,” “Family Guy,” “The Office,” “The Simpsons,” and “Naruto Shippuden.” Among these, SNL’s “Motherlover” sketch and Family Guy’s “Stew-Roids” episode earned the titles of the most-watched clip and full episode, respectively.

Another noteworthy mention is the live stream of Barack Obama’s inauguration, which was the most-embedded video on the platform.
