The Semiconductor Industry Association has revised its outlook and is expecting computer chip sales to increase by 6% reaching a record $226 billion this year. In November, the SIA projected that 2005 sales would be about the same as 2004 around $213 billion. As part of its revised forecast, the SIA also projects a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 9.8% through 2008. The SIA is expecting global chip sales to reach up to $309 billion in 2008.
