IBM has filed two lawsuits against Amazon.com for violating a number of its patents, all of which seem to involve the basis of Amazon's operation.
IBM has claimed more patents in the US than any company over the past 13 years. The suit against Amazon alleges infringement over a number of those patents, including:- US 5,796,967 - Presenting Applications in an Interactive Service.
- US 5,442,771 - Storing Data in an Interactive Network.
- US 7,072,849 - Presenting Advertising in an Interactive Service.
- US 5,446,891 - Adjusting Hypertext Links with Weighted User Goals and Activities.
- US 5,319,542 - Ordering Items Using an Electronic Catalogue. Amazon has yet to comment on the lawsuit.
