The European Commission had imposed a Thanksgiving Day deadline on Microsoft to make Windows Server documentation available that will enable third party developers to create interoperable software.

However, Microsoft managed to make good on the deadline. The company announced that they had delivered on the request, 8,500 pages in 100 documents. These documents had been in review by Microsoft and a Trustee appointed by the Commission to ensure they would be usable by developers. "The submission of technical documentation in July, and the revision process since then, has been an unprecedented undertaking involving over 300 engineers and technical writers at Microsoft," a Microsoft spokesperson said. "The Trustee's team of 7 technical experts has worked tirelessly over the past four months to give us feedback on the enormous volume of technical documentation that we submitted in July, and we have incorporated their input into the documents."
