Developers working with Opera's software development kit for mobile platforms now have support for the Flash Player 7 SDK available to them.

This Opera support delivers Flash to devices like portable media players, HDTVs, and game consoles like the forthcoming Nintendo Wii in November. Using Flash will make its presentation of content similar to the PC-based browsing experience familiar to desktop and notebook computer users. "Flash is an important rich content format on the Web, and in order for the browsing experience on a device to be as natural as possible, it is essential for Opera to support Flash," says Scott Hedrick, Executive Vice President, Opera. "Consumer electronics manufacturers are embracing Flash technology because of the rich user experience it can bring across devices," said Gary Kovacs, vice president of product management and marketing, Mobile and Device Solutions at Adobe. Opera already has significant placement on mobile devices throughout the world. Nokia, Samsung, and other manufacturers have embraced Opera as the browser of choice for their mobiles. The company also has a deal with Google that makes their search engine the default on mobile Opera-equipped devices. They have even extended Ajax functionality to the Opera Mobile browsers.
