The Windows Live Mail Desktop team blog indicates that they are in the final stretch before a major beta release, moving close to what Microsoft calls ZBB.
ZBB is Zero Bug Bounce, a time when there are no bugs left older than 48 hours, and they're indicating that they're working hard, extra hours to reach ZBB in time for ship date.
