The Create-A-Product API will be available to site publishers as part of Zazzle's effort to enable product creation and monetization through affiliate websites.
Zazzle announced its new program called the Product Engine today. The program opens Zazzle's technology and customization tools to third party websites. The program also offers a monetization opportunity. Zazzle will pay a referral fee for sales generated through the platform. Zazzle said this would be a one-click method of turning photos, designs, artwork, or text into physical merchandise. "As part of the Web 2.0 ecosystem, we felt the time was right to let consumers mash up content from anywhere onto t-shirts, postage, cards, mugs and posters," said Tuoc Luong, Chief Technology Officer and Vice President of Engineering at Zazzle.
